Re: Lotus bought by the Chinese, Good or Bad

Financially I think it is good news as the change/improvement of the Volvo range since they were taken over has been impressive so if it means that Lotus can at last bring new models then that is good. As much as I love the current range it is still based on a floor pan and design from 20 years ago...

Re: Part winter rebuild

forgive my ignorance ...but where do these additional fasteners go and what do they fasten? I doubled up the mounting screws holding the radiator surround panel to the crashbox. Also doubled up the screws holding the wheel arch liners to the car. I used the VW rawl plugs, which are a square hole fi...

Last picture I took!

All in all, good result. Spherical bushes are fantastic, no louder that original bushes. With the additional fasteners in the right place, the cars a lot quieter.

The discs are mounted in the wheels, derr! Along with the kers system and dilithium enhancers.
That's designer rust you know!

Re: Part winter rebuild

Replaced all the ball joints. To fit the new ones, I found it easier to remove the boot from the joint so there was no chance of getting it trapped. Where's the frickin grease? http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l525/jbs2170/Elise/2F96EE88-C43C-429F-97E8-C2E1BE3944DA_zpsvgeey4xg.jpg Put a load of g...

Re: Part winter rebuild

Nice job on the suspension Jas. My front wishbones looked much worse that yours when I did mine. I'm thinking about doing my rad this winter after having a brief sprinkle from the end cap when me and the missus were on a South Wales road trip in the summer. It's been fine since but I do wonder if i...

Re: Part winter rebuild

Although the wishbones were not too bad, they were mildly rusting. http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l525/jbs2170/Elise/FDD1C4ED-9EDB-41A7-8141-3A50B4A376C3_zps9luafohn.jpg So they all got sand blasted ready for zinc coating. http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l525/jbs2170/Elise/F77F7C7C-EF08-4CD...

You can get sticky stuff remover from Lakeland if you have one near. WD40 also works.
Would have thought nail varnish remover a bit harsh on the wheel paint?

Re: Commuting Buxton > Middleton - Am I mad?

I lived in Little Hayfield and travelled to Middleton on and off, I found you had to be on the M67 at the early part of 7 to avoid all the hassle. They have improved the denton roundabout at the end of the M67, and getting on the M60 Oldham direction isnt that bad anymore. It used to take me a minim...
