Introducing myself - db

Post by Dbilling64 » Thu Apr 18, 2013 8:28 pm

Hey all,

Just joined and saying hello. I live just outside of congleton in Cheshire, and I've just become the owner of a 2002 S2 sport 190 chassis number 4.

It's my 3rd stint of lotus ownership;

- I had an s1 when the elise was first launched in 1996 (strange - the interior seems smaller now)
- a 340r which I sold when I moved up to the north west about 8 years and realised that having a car with no roof is a car that can't go anywhere

And now this one - a two owner car with 5.5k miles from new (on an s190 - 25k to engine rebuild?). It's prepared as a race-car but it is road legal and I'm looking forward to my first track day in a few years.

Best regards, db (Darren)

Hi all, Thanks for the welcome. I hope to meet some of you at an event in the coming weeks.

to the question,on where I got the car from. It was bought new by the owner of a lotus dealership in London. He raced it for a couple of seasons, although I don't know in what event. it was then bought by the previous owner, and it seems to have spent a good amount of time in storage at Plans Motorsport at Dunsford airfield who also maintaned the car. I bought the car through Graham at Plans, who was very helpful and took me through a box file full of history to help convince me that although it has done track time it had also been well looked after.

its got a very track focused spec; roll cage, fire suppression, engine kill, adjustable suspension, 4 pot brakes, LSD, Motorsport Cat....

Its way more capable than I am, but brilliant fun to drive. My last fun car was a Nissan GTR - bit of a contrast. apparently in a lotus that funny screeching noise and smell of rubber when you press the brake peddle, requires you to do something yourself...
